Does your bank offer Overdraft Privilege?
Yes, we have an Overdraft Privilege program. The program is only available on checking accounts (both business and personal).

To inquire as to whether you have Overdraft Privilege on your checking account, or to opt out of Overdraft Privilege, please call 740-634-2331 or 888-560-9018 and select menu option 3.
Does your bank have Overdraft Transfer Protection?
Yes, The Rockhold, Brown & Co. Bank offers Overdraft Transfer Protection. If you have a savings and a checking with the bank, you may “tie” the two accounts to protect yourself against overdrafts.

Here’s how it works:

Suppose you have balances of $100 in your checking account and $300 in your savings account.

You inadvertently write a check for $150 from your checking account and it clears before you can make a deposit. Under normal circumstances, if the account has neither Overdraft Privilege nor Overdraft Transfer Protection, the check would be returned and your checking account charged an overdraft fee.

With Overdraft Transfer Protection the check will be paid by transferring $50 from your savings account to your checking account. There is a $5.00 fee per transfer, with a maximum of one fee per day. Transfers are made in $50.00 increments with a maximum of one transfer being made daily.

All disclosures given at the time of account opening still apply. This includes any withdrawal limitations.

Overdraft Transfer Protection PDF
Can a checking account have both Overdraft Privilege and Overdraft Transfer Protection?
Yes. Overdraft Transfer Protection will be utilized first and if funds aren’t available for transfer, any available Overdraft Privilege limits will be applied.

Overdraft Transfer Protection is used first because it’s less expensive for our customers.

Should I select credit or debit for my Debit card point-of-sale transactions?
When you have the choice, choose "credit" rather than “debit”.

At many merchant locations, you are given the choice of "debit" or "credit" when you present your Rockhold, Brown Debit Card. By choosing "credit" you will gain several distinct advantages over "debit":
  • Quicker and easier
When you choose "credit" you'll simply be given a receipt to sign, then you're on your way. You eliminate one step of the authorization process and it makes no difference to the merchant.

  • Less chance of someone stealing your card information
Any time you enter your PIN, you risk becoming the victim of a "shoulder-surfer", someone who looks over your shoulder and sees the number you enter. If that person is able to obtain your Rockhold, Brown Debit Card account number and PIN, you could become the victim of card fraud. Cash could be accessed from your account at an ATM without your knowledge.

In situations where you must enter your PIN (such as when getting cash at an ATM location,) try to shield your hand from view as you enter your PIN.

  • Enter your PIN when you want cash back
If you need cash back when you make a purchase with your Rockhold, Brown Debit Card, you'll need to enter your PIN. This is standard procedure at most locations.

  • Choose “Credit” -- It’s Cheaper!
The Rockhold, Brown & Co. Bank charges for each time a customer conducts a “debit” transaction where they have to enter their PIN (unless they’re at a Rockhold, Brown owned ATM or another ATM in our surcharge free network). The Bank DOES NOT charge for “credit” point-of-sale transactions. Select “credit” – avoid the fee!
Why can’t I get into Online Banking?
Problems with Online Banking could be caused by several factors. First, have you already registered? If not, call 740-634-2331 or 888-560-9018 and select menu option 3 and our Bookkeeping department will assist you in registering for Online Banking. If you’ve already registered, you may need to have your password reset. If you’ve forgotten your User/Access ID or Password, please contact the Bookkeeping department at the number listed above.
